Kris Drever is a talented guitarist and singer from the Orkney Islands whose debut solo album ‘Black Water’ won him the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2007. He was also an awards winner the following years with Lau, the band that Kris plays in with Aidan O’Rourke and Martin Green, winning ‘Best Group’ in 2008 and 2009. His anticipated second album, ‘Mark the Hard Earth’ was released on Navigator in Spring 2010. Kris will have a busy 2011, touring with Tim O’Brien, Lau and as part of DMW.
Kris has toured and recorded all over the world with names such as Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader. He is also a noteworthy composer and has collaborated with Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), Ian Carr (Kate Rusby Band) and John McCusker. In addition to this recent work, Kris has an extensive back catalogue including work with Cathy Ryan (ex of Cherish the Ladies), Fine Friday, Leo McCann, Heidi Talbot and multi award winner Julie Fowlis.
